HUNGRYKIDS.ORG PARTNERS UP WITH THE UNITED NATIONS TO TARGET YOUNG ADULTS
(Montréal, Québec) January 22, 2007- Newly formed world poverty and hunger awareness group HungryKids.org is now partnered up with the United Nations World Food Programme. HungryKids is dedicated to raising world hunger awareness and aims it’s message at young adults in high school and college. HungryKids is an unusual grassroots organization as none of the members have ever met face to face, it is entirely student volunteer run and the members are employed remotely via the Internet from all around the globe.
The group spreads its message to young people by targeting them on social networking sites like “Facebook” and other ways, they’ve recently asked rapper “Lenny P” to write a song for the organization to raise awareness, he agreed.
HungryKids.org was founded in November 2006; as of January 1 2007 they are now partnered with the United Nations as well. The United Nations World Food Programme declared to end child hunger by 2015 at the Millennium Summit. HungryKids.org’s sole purpose is to help achieve that by motivating and educating the minds of the future of the issue.
“Young adults are a lot more concerned with global issues then people suspect” said Brad Hines, founder of HungryKids.org. “The group we created on facebook has grown exponentially on it’s own and countless kids have messaged in asking how else they can help.”
HungryKids.org has been criticized for not collecting donations on their own behalf, but defends itself that its mission is beyond collecting money.
